Professions! (no, not your class, a real job, you third-world farmer!)
How about adding in workshops where you can actually do jobs. Use the skills you already have to do things in new areas to help out dwarves over and over for money and materials. Here's my example:
The Dwarvern Sea-ferring Ferry
You and your 'crew' are on a ship going through the icy regions of rivers to the ocean to catch fish and return. But oh noes, there's trouble!
Warriors will need to use strength to row, tactics to steer around obstacles!
Rangers will use thier expertise to spot out routes and thier wilderness survival to get through!
Elementalists will use thier air magic to summon wind currents to help blow the boat and fire magic to melt ice!
Mesmers will use thier fast casting to react to what happens on the arduous journey and inspiration magic to inspire the group to continue on!
Monks will use thier protection prayers to protect the boat from harm and healing prayers to mend broken parts of the vessel
Necromancers will use soul reaping to power the ship's furnace for every fish the ship's net catches and curses because it's freakin' cold!
everyone will need to kill the monsters that climb aboard occasionally.
the reward would be money, many bones and some other crap like logs that were floating into the net.
If you get the idea of it, then good. Maybe I went a little too in depth, but I think that people should have to work as a team and help do a task for someone for money. These areas would be new zones, and get thier own option similar to how PVP areas have red dots, missions have the shields, and large cities have the large gold silver buttons I think... well yeah.
ideas? this is intended to help people make money just as efficiently as farming, but is also meant to be accepted by anet as a way to make money reasonably.

Ok, probably failed to explain a whole lot. There could also be like coal mines.
People mining rock, people smelting the rock, and then ta-da! Iron ingotts or cash from the dwarves as your reward for helping them out. Or something like that as a mini game to get money.

Oh! I have a good idea too!
THe Super Aggro Adventure
You and your team must survive the hazards of a bad aggro.
Warriors: Run in and aggro everything. Attempt to fight it off alone.
Everthing else: Yell at the warriors and tell them how stupid they are. Then if the warriors are about the kill the entire aggro, leave just to reinforce your point!
Eh? Eh? What do you think? :P
